About Me

I am Peter Ryuken B. Hermosura, a 17-year-old student from the Philippines. You can call me Peter, Pete, or Rock. I am an aspiring meteorologist who loves to track the weather and tropical storms. In my free time, I write poems and take pictures of what I observe in everyday life. I also read textbooks, watch YouTube short documentaries, and sing Taylor Swift songs in the bathroom when no one's watching. I am easily interested in most things, but specifically, I have a special interest in science and mathematics.

Before the pandemic, I came from an era in my life where everything was moving too fast. That time, I had been burdened school works, personal problems, a heartbreak. Even when my teachers and classmates appreciated my academic performance in school, I actually had no clue on who I truly was. What I knew back then was that I was a student that had to comply, a son that had to act fine, a person lost in the thick woods. I was directionless, even when the world was moving too fast. Earth continued to move while I stood, sessile, just tired of the speed of life.

However, ever since I started documenting pieces of my life through pens, papers, and camera lenses, I found that life slowed down. I found balance and reassurance in savoring moments by turning emotions and lived experiences into jars of deliberately chosen words and frames of reference. That way, I could savor the small moments in life for what they are and how I live and see them—and not what the world paints them to be.

Since then, I have written poems and taken pictures that reflect the world I see in another perspective.

About Peter's Poems and Other Peregrinations

I started this website in April 2022 to showcase my poems and pictures from my life's journey thus far. This is because I believe that words and pictures connect us all. We, humans, form bonds when we realize that we are not alone in our experiences in life, and thus, I thought that my poems and pictures, which reflect real-life scenarios, emotions, and observations, can be a way to bind the Internet community together.

The poems in this site are based on my observations as an individual and cover a variety of topics, including bouts of anxiety, belongingness, and child aggression. My poems are not as good and freely-flowing as the works of the world's best poets, but they carry substance that may touch the readers, helping in my end goal of fostering a friendly community of poem enthusiasts. In short, I share some of my better poems here to showcase my portfolio, potentially impact and inspire readers, and build a community by encouraging discourse and love of poetry.

Meanwhile, the pictures I share in this site are more like photo blogs, which reflect my interests and specific journeys, or peregrinations, in life. They are also captioned accordingly to allow readers like you to get the context of the photos. The peregrinations section is the more personal side of this website, while the poems section is the more creative one.

Every now and then, I will update this website to post more poems and update followers on my peregrinations through pictures.
